Why you should always consult experts before you embark on something new?

Why you should always consult experts before you embark on something new?

Why one should not indulge in hyper-independent vehemence.

… Storytime…

It’s almost been a decade since our home got a makeover.
So we started interviewing different contractors for the same.
And I have been meaning to call my dear friend, let’s name him PG, Parle G.

But while being productive and self-reliant and overtly hyper independent I didn’t call him at the right time.

After I signed the contract and the formalities, when I spoke to him with a wide smile and proud puffs of air, it soon faded into a poker face and a feeling of utter stupidity.
I was feeling like that kid who gallantly shows his Hot wheels car to another kid only to realise, the UK is not the United Kingdom, but the UlhasNagar Kingdom.

I came to know so many things were wrong with the contract!

Top 3 learnings
1. Consult your expert friends.

Call them up. Ping them. Listen to what they have to say.
You won’t even realise how much time, energy and money you will say.

2. Being independent is good but don’t let it smother you.

Often in the heat of being hyper-independent, we negate the idea of taking help from others.
We don’t like to be helped.
But it’s okay. Really.

3. Research
Be it home decor or finding your co-founder, do your homework right. Don’t stop until you get the gut feeling of you have done enough. And then delay no more and plunge into action.

P.S. There’s a difference between knowing to keep your eyes and ears open and doing that.

Has this happened to you as well!? What do you think?

The White Coat is our comfort zone, isn’t it?

When you lay back, and remove your doctor’s coat, you realise that comfortable warmness wearing down. And you miss it, consciously or unconsciously.

As much as we deserve the respect and pat-on-the-back, we have been too habituated in seeking them, and we don’t even realise it.

It is as if, when we go out there, in the open society, when we look unto the eyes of fellow humans on our right side, we expect them to bow down and a give us that single look which says it all.

Like we yearn for people to give us appreciation and tell us how much they are grateful to us. On a basic level, it is very valid, considering the work, and the sacrifice we make. But what I feel is we go wrong, when we are misguided and attach it to our ego.

I may be completely wrong when I pen down this.
But as a spectator, seeing from both the eyes of a layman and a medico, this comes to me.

I feel, as if, on a spiritual level, we have become an ego-feeding-machine-cum-healer.

my dear comrades of medicine,
what do you think?
What are your views?

Why do we need to marry?

Why do we need to marry?

Why can’t we simply exist and live in the world?

Is Marriage
Or is it something that the society has made it,
marketed it well and
brainwashed us into believing it to be.

If love is your answer;
Why can’t we love all?
Why can’t we love our loved ones the way we love our special ones.
Why can’t we do that?

Photo by more same about on Pexels.com

If kids are your answer;
Why can’t we simply have a collective nursery; Wherein, each child there is yours and is not.
Yet you love and care for them.
Or better, do we need really need to tie down, two humans, to raise a child?

If Intimacy is your answer;
Why can’t we be intimate with people we like and love.
Why do we restrict ourselves to just a single person throughout our lives?

If Money/Security is your answer;
Are we so much selfish that we are ready to live a life with someone who we don’t love but like their status or the safety which they offer?
Or are we being dumb here?

Photo by bin Ziegler on Pexels.com

If Companionship is your answer;
In this transient world of hyper-connectiveness, why can’t we develop a strong bond of pure energy that stays unbreakable, no matter what?
Why can’t we have companionship with other hoomans as well?

Photo by Mateus Souza on Pexels.com

If Making love is your answer;
Why can’t we make love to the many loved ones cherish?
Why does it have to be pure, animal-like, stinking of just pure flesh?
Mind you, I am not here talking about lust.
I am talking about the expression of a pure form of love through making love.
Why can’t we cuddle other than the one?
Why can’t we snuggle other than the knotted person?
Why can’t we freely express our love through our bodies?

Do we really require chains to love and to be loved?
Do we need cages to be selectively made love to?

Who started all of this anyway?
And why are all of us believing in it so blindly, so diligently?

Why is it that to even question this, we become frightful, fall into the forever abyss of self-doubt, and wondering is something wrong with ourselves?

Why don’t we have a free society where we can question anything and everything?

Coming back to the topic at hand.

Aren’t we too much harsh, to expect everything above mentioned

What happens if your partner doesn’t or let’s say, CAN’T provide you on a platter all the dishes you just ordered?
Be it his/her own will or shortcomings or no fault of her own.
What if she simply can’t provide you with that, why are we so harsh on them?
Why do we behave so evil to them?

No human is holistically developed. Every man has his own natural and acquired mistakes.

In the first place, Why do we EXPECT so MUCH from a SINGLE HUMAN BEING?
Why do we DEMAND so much from a SINGLE RELATIONSHIP?

Why can’t we have multiple loved ones?
Why can’t we have different humans for the same?

Do we really need to settle with just a single one?

The One who sees, listens, feels everything,
And then questions them.

What is true love?

Photo by Shihab Nymur on Pexels.com

As this Valentine day comes, I stumble upon an old google note that I had written when I was in my late teens, which was about – Love.
I have been wondering for a long time, What is true love anyway?

This is what I had written back then…

The Lil Teen Me
Time spending – basic stuff na and after a time you fall in love but that doesn’t always mean s/he is the SOULMATE na, coz if you can like n understand anyone with whom you have to spend a long period of time. [Isn’t this so frigging true?!? That’s the secret of most Arranged marriages I think!]
Maybe it is seeing in the eyes of her and letting the world pass by, as it happens in meditation. [Damn, I am crazy Romantic since back then eh xD]
She should understand me when I wanna walk alone just being there & not whispering a word just for letting me live that moment. [I didn’t know I had this level of maturity back then :P]
Capturing candids when she least expects. [Yay! :D]

After reading these, my curious heart couldn’t help but ask the question, which has bothered lovers for eternity; I started asking people out.

Check out these cool answers.

A Pretty Physician says.
When you get along well.
When you let them be when they want to and at the same time be around.
When your presence energises each other.
When you naturally incline towards each other.
When taking effort doesn’t feel like taking effort.
Whether you win or lose, you want to announce it to the other person immediately.

An arranged-marriage-newly-wed-bride says.
Nothing is ready-made in this world…we become soulmates for the people we love and are worth changing for.

A Beautiful Kathak dancer says.
Me and My Doggo ofc!

An Indian-Guy-Studying-In-China
The major difference as per me between true love and soulmate is when you see the dark side or flaws of a soulmate you might feel less attracted or maybe sometimes go different ways.
But in the case of true love even when you see him/her at her lowest and at her darkest side you still see only beauty and nothing else just like lotus it grows in swamps but whenever we look at it at its worst we still only appreciate it’s beauty.

A Passionate Gardener says.
Someone you care about like yourself.
Two people = one soul.

A Musical Audiologist says, Love is something you get, when you aren’t looking for it.

I ask you,
My amigo,
What do you think True love is?

It’s a man’s world indeed.

As I sit in a local bound to Bombay central, I can’t help but notice, a lone mother amidst an avalanche of Mumbaikar men.

She looks so puny and helpless in this Thursday morning train crowd. And I ponder, isn’t it true in the world outside too.

Boys whether you notice it or not, believe it or not, it is indeed a man’s world.

We have created the rules for them, what to do, what not to do, what to wear, what to not to, what to drink, what to not, and the list goes till the Marina trench’s bottom.

By the grace of nature itself, they go through so much that we can’t even fathom, be it the monthly periods, super tough and painful childbearing, menopause.
And superadded to that we have unfair regulations on her when she’s bleeding, we expect her to be a big baby-making machine, we expect her to work and sacrifice for her family from teen till tomb.

Don’t you guys think, it’s too harsh on them?
Mother nature is already tough on them and we show our gratitude by making it more difficult for them.

And what compounds everything is their emotional journey.
They mature faster, they are smarter, they are far more emotional than we bright red bricks. So, Of course, they think more and mind you XY fellas out there, there’s nothing as ‘Overthinking‘, some people think more and some less, that’s it.

They feel more pain. They suffer more. They are hurt more.

Admit it guys, we are useless without these beautiful creations on earth, and yet we make their living directly or indirectly, consciously or unconsciously more hellacious, more gruelling.

The ultimate worst part is, we don’t even realise it!
(Of course, we are scientifically dumb enough not to understand their subtle signs, appeals or their upfront requests.)

Feeling guilty, you should be!

I don’t know what we gonna do folks, but let’s make a better world for our women, shall we?

Maybe for starters,

(Mind you, these are not just for your girlfriends/partners,
your own sisters and mothers deserve these too)

You could be a true gentleman not just some animal having pee pee in his pants.

Start to listen to her genuinely.

Be there for her, support her emotionally when she’s going through turbulence,

Help her out with daily households.

Don’t ignore her emotional tantrums, there may be a bigger issue beneath.

So gentlemen, have you got more ideas on how to make her life prettier?

And my dear ladies, do you want to rant something or add something, know that, we at, the Ikiguy, have got your back.

Your Only,
Dinesh Raja,
A Wizard who feels the World.

Like an incense stick life burns.

Just like an aromatic incense stick, our life slowly burns away without us realising it.

It’s sad that, when we do, it’s the end of the line till then.

Like the tip, when we are born, knowing nothing of the world, naive, innocent little babies, we start our journey, with the fiery spark, the blessing of our parents.

Only after you have lived enough, one starts to realise, our purpose or to say, one of the purposes of human life, was to spread fragrance around till the D-Day.

Or rather, counter-intuitively, if we all are going to die, we might as well be cheerful and spread mirth along with the steps on the long beach of life right?

Similar to the incense stick, our ability to spread light and joy increases as we go through life.
Because we need to have self-awareness, consciousness and cognizance about life to understand it, and it comes through either, life thyself, books, experiences, listening, observing, living it fully.

The most important thing incense stick teaches us about is – the Oblivion, the end, the Death.
We are bound to turn to humble ashes to be blown away in the dust of life.

So mate, till the fire is still burning, shall we make the joyride scented and sweet?

Yours Only,
Dinesh Raja,
A Curious Otaku.

What do you understand by the term “Super Power”??

Well, the first thing that obviously comes to mind is “Avengers” or Iron man or whatnot.

Does having a superpower only mean being really strong and fight strong people?
The answer to that is a big “no”.
Super Power or I should say your superpower is something that makes you unique.
I believe we all have it.

Credits: Merriam-Webster

No, what you’re good at might not fall into the “stereotypes” but it’s still there, isn’t it??
I’ll tell you something interesting.

In an article that was published recently about the crisis in Haïti, a young child was interviewed.
He shows a painting that he’d made about a guy who has a superpower.
Do you know what his superpower was?? His superpower was that he could generate electricity in any household or locality, that’s right!!

Now, this comes from the fact that he spent all his life without electricity and water amongst other things and he craves that.
It’s tragic obviously but proves a beautiful point.

I’m a firm believer that we all possess something that we’re really good at.
The reason we’re not aware of it or don’t practise it as such mainly stems from the fact that it’s not “recognized”.

So all I’m saying is just because your work isn’t recognized or you’re not recognized, please don’t stop doing something you’re good at just for the sake of others or to fit in, be that weirdo with pride, cause

You are bloody good at it and very few others are, and I’m sure, one day somebody will appreciate you!

Yours Truly,
Sai Karthik
An Overthinking Traveller.
